WMUA has been broadcasting from UMass-Amherst and its surrounding communities for over 50 years. Today, we are boosting our strong broadcast history into 21st century-style news reporting. We've combined new broadcast tools with traditional news sense.
We strive to keep you informed about:
WMUA NEWS. NEWS FOR STUDENTS. NEWS BY STUDENTS.
Interested in News?
Interested in Radio?
Interested in Reporting?
Interested in Anchoring?
Come down to the WMUA offices anytime to check us out.
We provide training for aspiring writers, broadcasters, pundits, and know-it-alls. WMUA anchors and reporters are students and produce their own stories about local events. Come learn audio editing, vocal techniques and though we can't teach you sound news judgment, we'll try!
Students have the opportunity to report on stories happening both on and off campus about whatever interests them!
Students can also anchor news updates 5 days a week three times a day. At nine and noon as a news anchor or sportscaster. And at five we have news anchors, a sportscaster, and an entertainment anchor.
Not interested in being the voice heard? Come down and talk to us anyway. We are always looking for off as well as on-air talent. If you are a writer (or would like to be one), interested in politics, theater, local events, crime, health issues, music and/or sports contact us at news@wmua.org for more info. Include your:
- Name
- E-Mail Address
- Area(s) of interest- news, sports, entertainment, anchoring, reporting, or writing
- Any questions you may have!
We look forward to meeting you!
