GB Minutes, 2/22

 

I. General Announcements:

 

• If you have any photos of WMUA please put them in the Shared Volume folder on the computers in the office.

 

• Update our Facebook and Twitter regularly! Include what you’re playing on your show, upcoming events that may be of importance, etc. The login information is the same as for the computers at the station. Username = wmua; password = wmu4u53r.

 

• We will be holding nominations for next year’s executive committee at our next meeting on March 8^th.

 

II. Department Director Updates:

 

• Music—Bands are interested in doing interviews! If you are interested in hosting a band on your show, let Barry know at music@wmua.org.

Also, please refile music correctly! If you are unsure on how to do this, ask Barry.

 

Primate Fiasco has an upcoming concert. If you’d like them to be on your show, let Barry or Darryl know! You can reach Darryl at community@wmua.org and Barry at the above mentioned address.

 

• Training—The Collegian is looking for people interested in recording podcasts! If interested in volunteering, you can contact Nora at training@wmua.org or the Collegian staff.

 

Training for next semester will start after spring break! Still looking for more volunteers to train people! If you’re willing to step up to the plate, let Nora know.

 

• Advisor—The Campus Center will be closed June 27^th-July 1^st due to repairs. Automation will be on on those days. There will be no line shows, but you may record your show before a certain cut-off date (TBA).

 

• Programmer—If you’re interested in running for Executive Committee, you should ask current execs about their positions and all that they entail.

 

III. Discussion: Events

 

• Ideas included:

-Block captains make a presentation on why their block is the best.

-Music swap (DJ’s bring one song from their show and trade with one another)

-WMUA mascot?

-Trivia night!

-Sell merchandise at the Campus Center.

-Ice cream social/field trip.

-Air a local TV commercial.

-Require internal promotion for each show.

-Host events on campus for students.

-Playing sets at the Dining Commons.

-Go to charity events as a group (ie: a soup kitchen).
